Happy Christ-mas

From a witch's point-of-view, this day is a little anti-climatic. Personally, the day to celebrate for me is the Winter Solstice -- this year witnessed on December 21. It is the longest night of the year and every subsequent day brings more sun. A feature which us earth-bound and earth-focused worshippers celebrate because it brings life back to the earth. The dark times have been a very sleepy time for me. Bringing lots of dreams, some seem to have a point, while others seem to just be passing by as other dreams have done in the past.

I am here in the country, Harper, TX, just outside of Fredericksburg. We're in the wonderful hill country of Texas, outside of the hustle and bustle of the city. I went outside last night and was only barely able to contain myself in the vast darkness of my surroundings. Here, the stars are unbelievable, with the milky way visible as an arc over my head. The blackness of the night was kept undisturbed by the moonlight, as it is setting early with the sun these days. Therefore, it was almost like walking out into the vacuum of space by simply stepping out of the house. Incredible! The retelling brings to mind a couple of quotes from The Counting Crows song "Mrs. Potter's Lullaby": "We drove out to the desert just to lie down beneath the bowl of stars." "You can see a million miles tonight, but you can't get very far.

Best wishes to all as we each celebrate the holiday season!
Revel in the longer days and enjoy the still-long nights as the best of times soon to pass.

peace out to the world,

'tis the season

I've been busy throughout my life for many months now. currently, i am working LOTS at work, very busy with a wonderful holiday vacation time planned in the middle of all the deadlines. heck, there's always a deadline somewhere, that's no excuse to make yourself miserable!!! 'cause there's a happy hour somewhere, too. aren't tight deadlines one of the best excuses to drink? i think so!!

I am also busy helping a friend with some promotional pieces for her new venture: Celebrations Receptions & Parties. If you need a gorgeous meeting space and a wonderful person to help you plan an event, then Michelle is your gal. You can reach her at: 817.896.1887. More to come... and if you come to my birthday party, you'll see the space for yourself!

Alter ego is my other focus these days. I'm having the masquerade ball for my birthday... but with a twist: it's an Alter Ego Masquerade Ball. I have so many alter egos, it's hard to decide on only one. I may need to have a change of costumes ready, then just switch out through the evening!

I was thinking about masks yesterday and, this morning, I thought about accepting the sound of your own voice. I think I've worn many masks and masked my own voice for most of my life. I have more to say on this than I have time for right now... so, I'll save that one for later....

hugs to all! peace out. --k

Wonderful, strong men

Another quote-of-the-day entry:

"The real accomplishment in life is the art of being a
warrior, which is the only way to balance the terror of
being a man with the wonder of being a man."

Accountability

"You can't just go through the motions with life and still expect to learn and grow."

Plodding along through your life may mean more than just witnessing the events that occur to you. It may mean accutely diagnosing the reasons that events occur, developing a strategy for bringing better things into your life and then following the plan to achieve the results you desire.

If everyone takes part in their lives and remains accountable for the results they each experience, the world may find more peace, less strife.

However, with the greed for money and power so predominant with the people who are supposed to be our spokespersons, there will never be harmony among the masses because there will always be more takers, in effect, than givers. The search for supreme power has been taken away from spiritual gain and is now predominantly earth-bound, as if the life on earth provides only physical wealth.

Those of us who have ever felt a spiritual bond with something greater than ourselves knows that this life can provide a wholly different experience and that the Money=Power=Happiness equation is a myth that is unnecessary to personal growth. Though money and power and happiness are all possible results of making yourself accountable for your own experiences and life growth.
